yes, it's nice to have this little internet cafe right down the street from our hostel.
today...church was very nice. it was really good to be in a church with reformed tradition, although it was very empty, and there's an obvious tradition of women covering their heads, which we didn't know about... hehe. small distractions. the music there...makes me love genevan tunes, and i never thought i'd say that. :)
after church we walked around some more...bought lunch and dinner, then headed towards the castle. wow. lunch in the park below the castle, sitting on soggy benches yet looking through the sunshine at the surrounding scenery. i love the mix here of wild rugged countryside with the ancient stone buildings...and modern things randomly included.
so, lunch and some good discussion, followed by more hiking, up the hill to the castle. very interesting tour (for once we tagged along with a tour guide and learned some funny things about the castle)...we'd seen a pet cemetary at marlborough house in london, and guess what! scotland's castle also has a little garden dedicated to pets. sigh. it seems so silly...
uumm....more castle...including saint margaret's chapel from the 12th century...and then more walking of course! it's been rainy today...so after ducking to st gile's to hear this crazy organ recital and to avoid the rain, we walked back to the hostel and i, for only the second time this month, switched my soggy crocs for my clarks. it's been a little frustrating carting these shoes around in my backpack...so i'm glad for the rain. makes them useful. anyways--we walked back up to holyrood park, because that's the most beautiful place here. yesterday we only walked up a 'wussy' path...today we walked further into the park near the remains of some abbey (haha, i can't remember. google holyrood park, and you'll see it.) and from there we decided not to walk up to arthur's seat (because it was a long walk!) instead we walked up along the salisbury crags (which you'll see on the map if you google it)(it's the higher version of what we walked yesterday) ...and took some more pictures. beautiful.
after that we walked back. now we're here, hopefully i can get into my gmail (it's not working, boo) and soon we'll go eat dinner and journal/read...
PS did you read brine's post yet? we're so proud of her, that she's finally blogging! :P

I can't believe you are coming home already! Time sure flies!
What the heck do you mean, it seems silly to have a pet cemetery? Are we related, haven't you ever been to uncle John's house, what do you think the back yard, front yard, side yards are, anyway. Well fertilized? Yeah that too. Diane, of the aunt variety
