this is what i doodled last year. on the front of the folder...
it says cityscript somewhere in there. can you find it?
key moment. Son of Man did not come to be served...but to serve.
Even though Mark 1 was a year ago, there are things that link all the way back to page 1.
this is the back of the folder, doodled this week. i doodled less. but i still love my sharpie.
a riot of colour
another key moment: gotta deny yourself, take up your cross, and follow. lose your life in order to gain it.
How much of this life on earth is really applicable to life in the Kingdom of God?
city/script kit.
not pictured here is the ever-present travel mug full of coffee or tea, copious amounts of chocolate and other junk food, and people to study with. among other things.
so the question 'what are you taking home from city/script?' is an interesting one for me.
i'm such a huge fan of inductive manuscript study, and the process, and the colours, and the moments of recognition, and perceiving, and understanding, and the idea of spending a week in scripture, and silly little one-liners which will stay with me. (WTF?) i love it!
but what i learned is EVER so much more important than how i learned it. even more important than who i learned it with. or when i learned it. (it took about 90 hours total, to get through all of mark!) and here i am excited about getting through all of the olivet discourse (yes, we got through olivet...bahaha...even though we were all hysterical and didn't take in much...) and here i am excited about taking pictures and sharing with you the visual pleasure of this wonderful gospel...and here i am excited about the details while the meaning is waiting in the background, in pages of yet unwritten journal entries, and in hours spent in prayer. really, how you respond to Jesus is key. and, i almost feel like i'm giving away the ending... but mark leaves his gospel open-ended! the women went to anoint Jesus' body...and he wasn't there. they were told to go and tell the disciples...
...and they were afraid...so they didn't say anything.
to anyone.
well then! how the heck did we get here!? they must have gotten up their courage to tell SOMEONE...because we know now!
so...you might just know a bit about what Jesus did when he came to earth.

don't be afraid.
go, tell.
deny yourself, lose your life, and go, tell.
go, tell.
deny yourself, lose your life, and go, tell.
